For trans
and gender non-conforming children, youth, their parents, caregivers and families, the realization that they are not alone is a life changing event.
The opportunity to share their experiences and stories with others, and to learn from their experiences can be more than informative and inspiring. It can save lives.
While online support groups and resources provide access to valuable information and cyber-networking there is no substitute for the experience of being able to meet others who have walked in your footsteps.
TransActive's Family Support Group provides a place where you can:
Hear first-hand from others about how they've worked through learning about trans and gender non-conforming identity and expression. Youth, parents, caregivers and other family members can also share how they've worked with physicians, pediatricians and others to best serve everyone's needs
Learn more about gender non-conforming and transgender identity in children and youth
Share feelings about what you, your child and your family are going through
Ask questions about working with schools on being supportive
Get suggestions on how to explain to, and receive the support of extended family, friends and neighbors
Receive tangible resources that will benefit you, your transgender or gender non-conforming child and your entire family.
