TransActive Releases New Video
TransActive, a leading non-profit providing services to families of transgender and gender nonconforming children and youth has released a new video about the growth in trans child and youth awareness over the past 20-years.
As part of "Transgender Youth Awareness Month" activities in the State of Oregon, TransActive Education & Advocacy ("TransActive") has released a new video that provides an overview of how public awareness of trans* child and youth issues (particularly in relation to early recognition and intervention) has developed over the past 20-years.
You can view the video, entitled "TransActive: A True Story" on TransActive's YouTube channel.
"TransActive: A True Story" includes both audio and video clips from early talk-show coverage of trans youth (as opposed to the extensive coverage given to late-transitioning adults) and the role Jenn Burleton (herself a woman of transgender experience) played in expanding public awareness and discussion of trans* identity in children and youth through her seminal founding roles in organizations such as Trans Kids PAC, TYFA (Past President and Executive Director) and for the past 6 years serving as Executive Director of TransActive.
For more information on the counseling, case management, medical referral, educational, training, advocacy and speaker's bureau services that TransActive offers, visit http://www.transactiveonline.org or email TransActive at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
